Constant awareness
Many people in their spiritual development think, that they have to strive for a steady consciousness of being One, of being with the Highest. They feel sad, that they do not succeed.
In my opinion, that is not right. There is a level of awareness that one is One with the Highest and there is a level of being, acting, feeling and thinking in this world. These levels cannot be compared. We are not in one OR in the other. We can be consciously living in this world and at the same time be conscious in the background, to be One with the Highest, with God.
The same way I am a Dutchman. Perhaps once in a week I think of being a Dutchman. But when I hear our national hymn , I am wide open and proud. When I hear speaking Dutch (I live in Spain), I am fully attentive. So I am One with God. I not only know it, but it is deeply anchored in my unconscious, in my soul. It is always there and it cannot be influenced by anything. Even when (not: if) I (my body, with its drives) do stupid things, I am One with God. He does not stop loving me and I do not stop loving me. He also draws my body to be One with Him, and He will succeed some day, but my body is not me.
So try to understand, that the ultimate force of creation never leaves you for one split-second. That is enough. The understanding and acceptance will on its own energy penetrate your subconscious, your soul, your whole being. And then, some time, the energy from within will come and tell you of its happiness.... and will draw your whole consciousness in its realm. It will penetrate your being together, your playing and working, and in the beginning nothing needs to change outwardly. But the radiance of peace will take hold of you.
